TAMMY TERRY FROM KATY KEENE COMIC BOOK PAPER DOLLS

This is one of the main characters in the Katy Keene comic books. Sure wish the comic books that had paper dolls in them were still being printed.

The clothes designs were all done by Mary Ann Faulstich. She even has her knitting bag to pass the time when not in demand on the set.

This set came from the Katy Keene Comics Vol 1 #41 printed July 1958. Just figured out why the paper looks dark with age, this set is 54 years old.

This is such a cute card, I love the little kitten all snuggled up on the bed next to the little girl.

This is a Sunshine card #1-25×410-13 and I received it back in 1979 from Mariam Bay. She was a member of the Cleveland Doll Club at the same time I was.

Also posting a very pretty card tonight. This was received today from Faye. The artist is Liz Schreiner, I am so thrilled when they let us know who the artist is. Like I said before, to me, greeting cards are miniature works of art.

There is no verse as this is a note card where the sender writes their own thoughts.

Looks like there might be a few violets tucked in with the bigger flowers. The blues, violets and green colors are so lovely together.

THINKING ABOUT YOU GREETING CARD

This is a pretty but simply card I received back in 2007.

Korey and I had gone, without calling first, to drop a box of candy and a Valentine card off at a friends house. She was not there and this is the card she mailed to us. There was a personal Thank you note written on the inside.

The verse reads:

Just a friendly message
That’s especially meant
to say
That thoughts and warm good wishes
Are with you every day!

This is a “Forget Me Not” card from American Greetings #348326 – 100C 2550 – 17J

The printing and the border is in gold. The flowers and leaves including the stems are embossed.

THE PENNY – A SAYING

I am going to start adding something new to my blog. Every now and then I receive through my e-mail, a poem, a saying or a thought that I like especially well. So I thought I would start sharing them on the blog also.

Maybe I like this one so much because my youngest daughter is now an angel.

A CHEER UP GREETING CARD

Back in 1979, while still living in North Royalton, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio) I had some surgery that required me to stay in the hospital for a week. At the time I belonged to the Cleveland Doll Club and they had the members sign and sent me this wonderful card. I believe in fairies, elves and other such things. You have to admit this is a cute elf.

The verse reads:

Chose this cheer-up card
for you
in hopes the wish it brings
comes true.
And to let you know
beyond a doubt
That you are often
thought about.

The inside of the front cover has a steam of leaves with one pink bell flower and a little yellow butterfly. The inside of the card paper is white but there is a pink blush around the flower and butterfly. Everything on the cover except the wording is embossed. This is a lovely card with lots of thought put into the designing of it.

Some more Pretty Stationary

Until I received a comment on the piece of stationary I posted yesterday I never thought some one might be interested. I keep forgetting some people live miles and miles away from a larger city that has all the lovely craft stores I have in Fort Lauderdale.

The bottom one would like pretty if some color was added to it, this is one of my many, many someday to do things.

VALENTINE PAPER DOLLS – from magazines

I was trying to clean up my documents some what and found these 2 pages of Valentine items I saved from magazines. I am great about throwing away magazines to get rid of the clutter, but I tear out half of them to save for some reason or other.

I think this would be cute made up or you could print it out, enclose enough tiny brads and send it as a gift to a granddaughter or other girl you know.

I think Little Emily is really cute, again you could cut her out and enclose her in a Valentine card for a young girl to play with, or send her uncut to an older girl to cut and play with.

I like Joan Walsh Anglund’s art work. Wish I had more of it, have may be a dozen pages from Good Housekeeping Magazine. My first one was a Christmas paper doll my youngest daughter, Candy found in a magazine at school doing a cut and paste project. She was so proud when she brought it home to me as she knew paper dolls were my first love in collections.

TO MY VALENTINE – HANDMADE CARD 1-12-2012

First I need to give you a sheet of paper.

I cut some of the buds from the bottom and the darker red rose for this Valentine.

I also used the heart shape I posted in my last post prior to this one, coloring in a few with a red pencil, you could color them all if you are ambitious.

The shinny gold items are called “Dazzels” or “Star Foam Stickers” depending what store you buy them from. If you cannot get out to buy the gold items, you can use your computer and print out the wording in black, it will show up nicely on the pink paper. I went to Michaels Craft Supplies and found a whole pad of this size paper with pink, light green, light blue, lavender and yellow sheets. You just use one sheet and fold it in half. Use a ruler or a butter knife to run over the fold so it is nice and smooth. I make the top sheet a little bigger so it is easier to open the card only about an 1/8″. The 4 corners of the words have sticky back pearls but if you have photo hinges you can use those. With the cost of greeting cards now a days, with a little thought you can make a card for almost nothing from items you have around the house. You can use computer paper and make your heart all pink or red. Any questions you can e-mail me at margeryschaffer@bellsouth.net – HAVE FUN AND BE CREATIVE. The words are for someone I have known for a long time but if you need help, look on my blog under February 2010 or February 2011 and see the wording on some of the commercial cards. I would not use the words exactly but a line from one and a line from another will give you an idea along with your own words.

THE PETTY GIRL SUIT OF 1940 – a paper doll

This is an item I purchased at the Philadelphia paper doll convention in 2011. Carol Carey had put the doll in and the rest of us drew outfits for her. This doll is 12″ tall so I had to take apart this set, scan it and now remount it. When I was a very young girl my dad always got the Esquire Magazine and it always had a pin up in it. Oh how I wish I had those pin ups now.

I would have loved to have this yellow outfit to wear when I was young and thin. You will notice on the green outfit I did I put gloves in. When I was in my early 20′s and worked in a Corporate office I felt undressed if I did not have gloves and earrings on every day. Now I throw dress slacks and a t-shirt with the company logo on it and off to work I go. I really do miss dressing up, I did dress up when Korey took me to the Ballet one year.
