MEDIEVAL GOTHIC PAPER DOLL BY TOM TIERNEY

Good afternoon! Some years back, the magazine “Womans World” printed a few paper dolls by Tom Tierney. This is a copy of one I just bought so has not date on it. I have another one I will need to dig out done in the flapper period.

I think this is a beautiful paper doll, the gown is gorgeous – it is a wedding ensemble – wow I like this better than just plain white.

Unfortunately the magazine stopped printing paper dolls after only a few issues. Maybe we should write and tell them to start again. Guess we would need to see if Tom would still be available? I think he would like to slow down about now.

Oh yes the border is lovely also so colorful

Another love of mine is dolls, I just love all the dolls on these two pages.

A lover of fashion design, these are wonderful and such a terrific way to see what was worn in other countries. I like the way he labeled each outfit from the area in Russia is came from. These costumes are fantastic, all the lovely embroidery work. I keep trying to pick out my favorite, but I cannot, they all are so wonderful in there own right.

I know Christmas has long gone away, but I was putting away some things today and came across this card. I must of pulled it out to post in December but then it got hidden under other mail on my table by my chair. Anyway, since this came from a lovely lady who is the company’s attorney, I really had to laugh. So as the saying better late than never goes, here is a clever card:

In this day and age of everyone wanting to sue someone, I thought this was so funny.

The verse reads:

This is a “Celebrations by Gibson” card number 195V20409 and I received it back in 2002

I like the way the heart looks like it is cut out, but it is just embossed along the outside of the heart, also it has a nice little border along the bottom.

Well between school work and church work Korey unblocked our internet. It is really a crime how dependent one becomes to the internet. What happened to picking up the telephone or jotting a quick note to be mailed, these are becoming a lost art I am afraid.

I thought this was cute, and for you that do not know what MADC stands for it means “Madame Alexander Doll Club” Madame Alexander was one of the leading doll makers in this country. I have the sweetest 8″ Dutch Boy and Girl made by her company. She made lovely fashion dolls also, but they were well out of my price range as I was raising two young fashion females back then. Even though the Madame has left us her company still remains, making lovely dolls for the child in all of us.

Have no idea what the 10+ 20+ means. The artist has signed it on the lower right hand corner. This would be a nice doll to make some outfits for, she is a nice size.

TAMMY TERRY FROM KATY KEENE COMIC BOOK PAPER DOLLS

This is one of the main characters in the Katy Keene comic books. Sure wish the comic books that had paper dolls in them were still being printed.

The clothes designs were all done by Mary Ann Faulstich. She even has her knitting bag to pass the time when not in demand on the set.

This set came from the Katy Keene Comics Vol 1 #41 printed July 1958. Just figured out why the paper looks dark with age, this set is 54 years old.

This is a Sunshine card #1-25×410-13 and I received it back in 1979 from Mariam Bay. She was a member of the Cleveland Doll Club at the same time I was.

Also posting a very pretty card tonight. This was received today from Faye. The artist is Liz Schreiner, I am so thrilled when they let us know who the artist is. Like I said before, to me, greeting cards are miniature works of art.

There is no verse as this is a note card where the sender writes their own thoughts.

Looks like there might be a few violets tucked in with the bigger flowers. The blues, violets and green colors are so lovely together.

THINKING ABOUT YOU GREETING CARD

This is a pretty but simply card I received back in 2007.

Korey and I had gone, without calling first, to drop a box of candy and a Valentine card off at a friends house. She was not there and this is the card she mailed to us. There was a personal Thank you note written on the inside.

The verse reads:

Just a friendly message
That’s especially meant
to say
That thoughts and warm good wishes
Are with you every day!

This is a “Forget Me Not” card from American Greetings #348326 – 100C 2550 – 17J

The printing and the border is in gold. The flowers and leaves including the stems are embossed.

I am going to start adding something new to my blog. Every now and then I receive through my e-mail, a poem, a saying or a thought that I like especially well. So I thought I would start sharing them on the blog also.

Maybe I like this one so much because my youngest daughter is now an angel.
