I am health wise well. My boss informed me a week ago that he thought it was time for me to retire. My financial planning counted on my working through the end of 2014. I was in shock, this is the man that said I had a job there as long as I wanted it. Another time he said I could work there until Jesus came again. Now he says I am too old to work, along with some other things that really were none of his business. I raised Korey and will now assist Korey as I see fit in my heart. This really threw me for a loop, am calmed now and have been planning a new budget (which is not easy). Anyway Korey will be here this weekend and I am going to have him put something on the front page so I can find the blog easily. Then we will get back to a regular schedule, have some new items to share. I have missed blogging, but had to plan my retired life. Back with you all next Monday. Marge
I’m sorry to hear your news. Just goes to show that you can’t always count on the folks we think we can count on. This was not so nice of your boss. I do hope you can refigure your retirement finances. Enjoy your weekend with Korey. Hugs, Edna B.
Glad you are back
Marge, I understand what you feel, not very nice of your boss, I had a similar experience som years ago, Best, Inger
I am very sorry to hear that you have a economic hard time. Hope the best for you. Hugs from me
Wishing you the best in your unplanned retirement. Do you plan on income some way with your blog or paper dolls? You are an amazing resource for paper dolls!!
My sister just went thru the same thing. It is awful that people think nothing about pushing you aside. Imagine to his surprise when he finds out that the young doesn’t mean “better.” Stay strong
Unless your company already has a policy in place stating a mandatory retirement age, they legally cannot fire you solely based on your age. You should not feel pressured to quit until you are ready to do so.
I’m so sorry but, i hope every things turns for the best for You, and find pees and happiness, after problems are over.
Found your page by accident and although I don’t know you, I’m angry for you. Your boss has no right what-so-ever and it’s illegal for him to even make the statements he made to you. If I were you I’d seek legal advice.
Hi, Marge. So many sad things happen in this world. A dear friend of mine has been spending the last three weeks traveling back and forth from home to the hospital (about twenty miles one way) daily because her husband (a licensed contractor) fell off a roof. He spent most of a very cold, sleety day lying flat on his back, before someone found him — “died” twice and had to be defibillated when the medics finally got him to the emergency room. Now — the question is: will he walk again? In the midst of all the turmoil, heartbreak, and uncertainly, my friend spent time telling me last night about all the wonderful people she’s met, through this, and how good everyone has been. She’s rejoicing even in the midst of her pain because she believes she’s beginning to see pieces of God’s plan fall into place. There’s so much in her life that isn’t perfect — besides her husband’s accident — that I find myself marveling and inspired by her.
I do believe that the Lord has a blessing waiting for you. Your being laid off wasn’t a surprise to Him. AllI can think is — here’s an opportunity to trust Him and see what He does with your “lemon.” He has you right in the palm of His hand. With love in Jesus — Palina
I love paper dolls……any advice on where to find them in 2013.
I also enjoy your blog, beautiful pictures.
God has great things planned for your future.
I was laid off 6 months ago after 17 faithful years, God is taking care of me and preparing me for the next chapter.
Pam – thank you for your nice and encouraging comment. I have accepted and have given my retirement date of April 30, 2014. My boss is happy, but it was a shock to be told I was too old to work. I admit I loved to dance when I was young, and use a cane now so I will not fall, but my mind is still at the age of 45 or younger. Decided with a comment from my friend Marilyn I will then have time to do more art work (especially paper dolls). Maybe also travel to Ohio and see my family and friends there. That was my greatest worry, what was I going to do with myself. Marge
I’m sorry to hear about your unexpected change in life plans. Perhaps this may
Be a blessing in disguise for you. We wish you well. Dottie and Ward S.
He can not fire you for age. Remind him of that. I you can still work, you need to do it. I know how it feels to be on SSI early, and it is not good. So good luck with whatever happens with your life. Thinking of you. Sue
I am sorry to hear this Marge, hope it all works out for the best. It seems that one year more, as you planned, would have been the decent thing for your boss to allow, esp. since he promised as much in the past.
