This paper doll was done by Jackie Ormes and I just love the dresses. I always liked the style of the black one and such flair in the pale green with purple one.
I remember the time when I left for work without earrings and gloves that I felt completely naked. We dressed so much nicer years ago. Now I am in shorts and a work logo tee shirt, not very lady like but that is how we dress at work. Shorts, slacks or dressy jeans.
Hi Marge!
Thought you might want to know this Torchy Togs paper doll by Jackie Ormes appeared in the Pittsburgh Courier newspaper’s Comic Section, March 3, 1951. It’s so interesting to see how Torchy talks to her readers and gives them advice on what to wear. Jackie Ormes was always so aware of the world around her, and here she is referring to “your fighting man” from the Korean War. There’s another Torchy Togs on my Web site http://www.jackieormes.com and quite a few more Torchy paper doll panels in my book, “Jackie Ormes: The First African American Woman Cartoonist”. Love your blog, Marge! –Nancy Goldstein
