Good afternoon! Some years back, the magazine “Womans World” printed a few paper dolls by Tom Tierney. This is a copy of one I just bought so has not date on it. I have another one I will need to dig out done in the flapper period.
I think this is a beautiful paper doll, the gown is gorgeous – it is a wedding ensemble – wow I like this better than just plain white.
Unfortunately the magazine stopped printing paper dolls after only a few issues. Maybe we should write and tell them to start again. Guess we would need to see if Tom would still be available? I think he would like to slow down about now.
Oh yes the border is lovely also so colorful
Gorgeous!! Thanks for posting 🙂
I just came across a copy of Tom’s Egyptian doll from Woman’s World the other day …. Susan
I absolutely love Tierney’s work and have several of his books and hope to one day own all of them. I love the medieval period in history and even did my own paper doll reflecting that era. I named the doll Lady Rowena after my favorite character from Ivanhoe…one of my favorite books by Sir Walter Scott (that and Treasure Island. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of Tierney’s work.
My goodness! It’s beautiful, thank you for sharing! I’ve followed his work for years and never seen this one. Thank you very much:)
This is beautiful! I love Tom Tierney, his work is amazing. Thanks for posting!
Abigail – I have been a long time viewer of your site. Just did not know who did it. I found it looking under fashions. I have another by Tom that was in the same magazine, this time it will be a flapper. She is a favorite and I am always putting her in my round robins as my doll to design for.
Thanks! Wow I can’t wait to see it!
Thank you for sharing this p.d. In 1990 Mr. Tierney wrote in a PD publication that Woman’s World had purchased 12 of his Fashion-History paper dolls. At that time he did not know when Woman’s World would publish them and suggested writing to the publisher who he said: “decides what is going to print and sell.” I was able to acquire 11 of the 12 and I am wondering if anyone out there knows what the 12th one was? From the year 1989 – The Roaring 20;s; 1870’s Victorian; Napolenoic France; French Rococo; Romantic Era; and Ancient Egypt. From the 1990’s – Medieval Gothic; Edwardian; Hollywood; Ancient Greek; Gainsborough. IThanks
Darla – Wow are you lucky – I only have Roaring 20’s and Medieval Gothic. Marge
I have recently found several of these that I have had for many years and never knew what to do with them. I actually have five, l have the medievai Gothic, ancient Egyptian, french rococo, Napoleonic France, 1870’s victorian , and the roaring 20’s. I also have a two page Santa and Mrs. Claus by Amy Albert Bloom marked 1985 if any has info on it that would be helpful. I am not sure what to do with them. I am getting ready to move and they really have just become a hastle to keep so I guess if anyone wants to offer a reasonable price I would be willing to sell. But I’m not sure what that is.
