JANE ARDEN PAPER DOLL

I like this over the shoulder look on the doll.

I am not sure if those are sleeping pajamas or at home pajamas.  Back then they wore what they called pajamas at home but they were proper to receive visitors in.

I always wanted a riding outfit like this.  But I have only ridden a few times.  My daughter (now in Heaven) was the horse woman, she loved to ride and did not mind the stable cleaning, just wanted to be around horses.

This is a cute card and would not be hard to duplicate for your own use.

The verse reads:. . .with lots of love

It is an American Greeting card number 175C 608-26U 1526870

Hints:  It would be fun to draw a tea pot and instead of a mouse looking out have a small paper doll’s head there.  Inside you could tape a small plastic bag holding the paper dolls clothes.  If you are not a fancy flower artist, you could use a picture from a magazine or a sticker.

Good morning, hope you are all bright and ready for a good day.

I will post the rest of the book that was started yesterday.

Hope you all enjoyed this as much as I have.  I did not find it until a lot of years after it had been published.  It is so cute and I am happy to have added it to my collection.

This was published by B. Shackman & Co., Inc. in 1992 and is #9676

This came with a small Bride sticker paper doll tucked inside, so I posted both the card and the paper doll.

The card is one of my favorites, but then so are violets and a bible.  This is so pretty and what I call delicate art work.

The verse reads:

  • Sending warmest thoughts to you
  • and hoping in a special way
  • That God
  • who knows our every need
  • will bless
  • and strengthen you each day.

It is a Hallmark card number 40C292-6 and was sent to me by Rose Ardale back in 1985 when I had a very serious auto accident.  Rose was a dear friend.

EXPLANATION

Good morning every one!  Due to my hours at work being limited and having something scheduled for this afternoon I am not going in to work until 11:00 a.m. today.

I am taking the time this morning to get caught up, I am going to the Kansas City Paper Doll Convention and leaving on June 30th and will be gone until returning on July 7th.

Am trying to get my collection weeded out somewhat, putting for sale items in plastic bags and pricing.  And most important of all, finishing up some new art work to show  at the Artist Gallery.

So if I miss a day here and there please bear with me, when I come back from the convention I will get back on my regular schedule.

Have a wonderful day today!

Marge

I never really thought about Squirrels becoming paper dolls, but Kathy Lawrence (Queen Holdens’ daughter) most certainly did.  This is an adorable book, Kathy covers so many different occasions.

It has 8 pages all together so I will post this in two days.

Be sure to check in tomorrow for the balance of the book. The rest of the family is coming up.

I think this is the earliest dated one I have, I have a lot of undated ones so really do not know.

I find it very interesting that back in the 1930’s they wore hats with the formal dresses and in researching for designing in the Round Robins, I find a lot of the formal dresses had the half diamond shape inserts above the waistline.

Also this is the only one that has instructions on what to do – see bottom.  I am going to have to research and see when the first paper doll was published if possible to find out.

On June 8th, 2010 I posted a Tillie comic strip paper doll that came in a round robin.  I thought maybe you would like to see the costumes that the members of the Robin drew.  It is a small robin of only people.

I really enjoy designing when the round robins arrive.

ELIZA PAPER DOLL

This is #10 of 25 – hand colored June 1988 – It is a lovely, lovely set.

I purchased this last October when I was at Mary Young’s paper doll party in Ohio.

The outfits are all so lovely and one could not  help but feel “elegant”   wearing the fur coat.  Nearest this I came to it was a fox fur for the shoulders.

The artist granddaughter told us Betty was working on a web site to sell her paper dolls, can’t wait to purchase some more.  I have always liked her work and she is a very lovely person as I have spoken to her at a paper doll convention.

This card is so cute on all three pages:

This card was sent to me after an auto accident I had in June of 1965.  It came from the members of my former doll club in Akron, Ohio and all of them signed it.

It is a “Sangamon” card number 1.25-12718.
