Notice the size of the flowers this little guy is carrying.  This is such a sweet card.

The verse reads

  • with a big bunch
  • of hugs for you

The artist name is Tony Linsell

This is a Renaissance Greeting Cards Inc #H4980

I like the pose on this one, plus she has a pretty face.

This is dated 1-27-1935

– Think I will enlarge her for use in one of my round robins

The doll below looks more like Tillie in the comic strips.

I also like this one.   She has a good pose for drawing outfits for her.

JUNE CALENDAR 2012

This reminds me of what my girls and I would see on our Sunday drives in southern Ohio.  I really hate the flat,  boring scenery in southern Florida where I now live.

With my love of mice items, except the real thing, I oohed  and awed when I opened the envelope.

The verse reads:

  • A cheery reminder
  • That all through the day
  • Warm thoughts
  • and good wishes
  •  Are going your way.

This is from /Brick Mill Studios Inc. #90G536 and sent by Marilyn who has a wonderful collection of paper items.

THANK YOU  AGAIN FOR CHEERING ME UP.    I was a bad girl and worked 5 hrs yesterday and was sooooo tired when I came home.  Today I had korey come and get me at the end of 3 hours so I would not wear my self out. I think since it is so soon after surgery 2.5 or 3 hrs every day this week and probably next week are enough.

This came from one of the now nonexistent paper doll quarterlies “Midwest paper dolls  and Toys Quarterly” the Summer 1984 issue.  I had just bought some back issues that were for sale. Really fun to read about old friends and paper doll happenings from back when.

I sat at the same table for a luncheon at one time and never realized  she was a paper doll artist. A very nice lady and I enjoyed talking to her.

This is the other paper doll from the Spring issue of  Doll News  This doll has her own fan club. Be sure to scroll down to find the 3rd page which is the FRENCH ROOM.

Have fun decorating the French room

This is another “awe she is so cute” card  and I love the inside idea – a terrific card – thank you Marilyn.  Sure wish they still made them like this.

There is no information on the back of the card.  I think it probably came in a pretty decorated box with more of the same type of cards.  GUESSING IT IS FROM THE 1940’S.

How lucky we are for E-Bay where we can  still get the lovely older items from our past.  Especially for people like me who had original things like this but used then up, not knowing as I got older I would start collecting lovely paper items besides my paper dolls.  Just the box would be wonderful to still have.

Oh well what is that saying about too late we get smart?

This was printed in Germany, ca 1830

This is a lovely set – what a thrill it must have been to see her dance.

This  came from “The United Federation of Doll Clubs” spring 2012 issue of Doll News.

If you are a doll collector and do not belong to this group you are really missing out  on a great magazine they send quarterly to the members, it alone is worth the membership fee.  This issue is 216 pages of wonderful doll information. patterns, paper dolls and history of older dolls and their creators.

I do not belong to any doll club at the moment but I am a member at large.  It used to be all you needed were 10 dolls in your collection to join.  I don’t think that has changed.   Their  web site is http://www.ufdc.org

This is so sweet.  I love the kittens expression, kinda like it’s thinking ” I don’t know about all this”

This is from my favorite greeting card artist, Moorehead and is from the “Blessed Are Ye” collection published by Gibson Greetings Inc.  #195 CG121-0023.

  • The verse reads:
  • … for lots and lots
  • of  T.L.C.
  • to help with your recovery!

This  next one is lovely, a handmade card beautifully done.   The inside is blank for the sender to write their thoughts on.

On the back of the card it states:

This card is a small piece of art, created for the pleasure of the giver as well as the recipient.  These are paper dolls from the early 1900’s.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Norene

I most certainly enjoyed it with pleasure when I opened the envelope.  As a card maker my first thought was “wow” this is so lovely.

THANK YOU

To say Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.  Please bear with me for the next 3 weeks, I have a sling on and can only type with one finger.  I start therapy at the hospital today and hope to stop by work tomorrow. Will do the best I can to blog.

Love and God Bless you – Marge
